You can now pay by card on Realbook.site — no PayPal account needed. Here is why that matters. Of every hundred people who set out to subscribe to the Editor plan this year, about a third never got to the end. Not because of the price, and not because they changed their mind — because the checkout asked them for a PayPal account, and they didn’t have one.
That is fixed.
What changed
The Editor plan — every download in PDF, MusicXML, MEI and MIDI, plus the notation editor — can now be paid with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. No PayPal, no account with anyone but us.
- $10 a month, cancel anytime from the receipt email or your account.
- $100 a year — two months free.
- The $1 single download takes a card too, straight from the download button on any score.
PayPal has not gone anywhere. Both routes sit side by side on the pricing page, and both unlock exactly the same thing.
Why it took a while
Card payments for a subscription mean someone has to store the card, handle renewals, chargebacks and sales tax in every country you sell to. For a one-person site that is a lot of paperwork. We now do this through a merchant of record — the card is stored by them, the tax is handled by them, and the receipt you get says so. What we see is that your plan is active.
Nothing else changes
Reading, transposing and playback stay free, with no account. If you already have a PayPal subscription or an Editor Pass, it keeps working as before — there is nothing to move.
