These Terms of Service are the agreement between you and Realbook.site (“we”, “the site”, https://realbook.site) when you use the site. By using Realbook.site, and by creating an account or buying anything on it, you agree to them. Questions? Email admin@realbook.site.
What Realbook.site is
Realbook.site is an online library and editor of jazz lead sheets. Reading a score, transposing it to any key and playing it back in your browser are free and do not require an account. Downloading a score as a file, and using the notation editor, are paid.
Your account
You need a free account to save songs to personal songbooks, and a paid account to download or edit. When you register, give a working email address — we use it to send you your receipt, renewal notices and password resets.
An account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at admin@realbook.site if you think someone else has access to it.
You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to abuse the site — see Fair use below.
What you can buy
All prices are in US dollars.
- Single download — $1. One score, one payment, bought from the download button on that score’s page. It is yours permanently and you can re-download it at any time. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.
- Editor subscription — $10 per month. Every score in the catalog plus the notation editor. It renews every month until you cancel.
- Editor Pass — $10 for one month, or $100 for one year. The same access as the subscription, paid once. It does not renew: when the period ends, access ends, and you can buy another pass if you want to carry on.
Download limit
On any paid plan you can download up to 20 different scores per day. The counter resets at midnight. Downloading the same score more than once on the same day counts once, and scores you have already bought individually do not count towards the limit at all.
The limit is there to keep the catalog from being copied wholesale. If you have a real reason to need more, write to us.
Payment
Payments are handled by PayPal. We never see or store your card details.
Single payments — the $1 download and either Editor Pass — normally also offer payment by card without a PayPal account. The $10 per month subscription does require a PayPal account, because PayPal does not offer guest card checkout for recurring payments. Which options appear at checkout is decided by PayPal and can depend on your country.
Renewal and cancellation
The $10 monthly subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time from your account page, or from your PayPal account.
Cancelling stops the next payment. It does not cut off your access straight away: you keep it until the period you have already paid for runs out.
We may change our prices. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for; for a subscription, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, so that you can cancel first if you would rather not continue.
Refunds
We do not refund periods that have already been used. If you cancel, the next payment stops and your access continues to the end of the period you have paid for.
There is one exception: if you were charged but a technical problem on our side stopped you from getting the access you paid for, write to admin@realbook.site and we will refund you in full.
The $1 single download is not refundable, because the file is delivered immediately.
Fair use
A paid plan is for your own use as a musician. Please do not:
- share your account with other people, or sell access to it;
- download in bulk with scripts, crawlers or any other automated tool;
- republish, resell or redistribute the files you download;
- try to get around the download limit, the paywall or any other technical restriction on the site.
If an account is used this way we may limit it, suspend it or close it without a refund.
Material you upload
If you upload sheet music or other material to the site, you are responsible for it and confirm that you are allowed to share it. We may remove any uploaded material.
Availability
Realbook.site is provided as it is. We work to keep it up and correct, but we cannot promise that it will always be available, that every score is free of mistakes, or that the catalog will stay exactly as it is today — scores and features may be added, changed or removed.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing here limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site or by email. Continuing to use Realbook.site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
